How to use social media

The new BBC College of Journalism website is full of really useful training videos, tips and guides. http://www.bbc.co.uk/academy/collegeofjournalism

This one is a very brief guide for how to use social media tools like Google, Twitter and Facebook and it’s me giving a very speedy tour:   http://www.bbc.co.uk/academy/collegeofjournalism/how-to/how-to-use-social-media/social-media-tools I must learn to speak more slowly.

If you have any questions or need any advice please don’t hesitate to comment here or tweet me @suellewellyn.

EBU Radio Assembly interview

After my presentation at the 18th EBU Radio Assembly in Stockholm, I’m picked up on a point I made about young people and social media.

Hatching your avatar

We always recommend that people we train ‘hatch’ their avatar as soon as possible because nobody wants to engage with an egg.

Today the very lovely @ukcolinr, who started off as a total Twitter sceptic, has done just that.  And it’s hilarious.

Colin's new avatar

Tearing himself away from Tweetdeck he also said:  “I’ve just been mentioned and I’ve got five new followers. This is life-changing.”  Welcome to the wonderful world of Twitter. #bbcdigjo
